On November 23, 2012 the memorial evening was held at the premises of the church and museum "Niguliste" on the occasion of 80 years of the Great Famine in Ukraine of 1932-1933. The event was organised by the Congress of Ukrainians of Estonia jointly with the Embassy of Ukraine in Estonia.
The memorial evening was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Estonia Viktor Kryzhanivskyi, the personnel of the Embassy, Minister of culture of Estonia R.Lang, the European parliament's deputy from Estonia T.Kelam, heads of the diplomatic missions, accredited to Estonia and two Ukrainians, who survived the dreadful times of the Great Famine.

The Ambassador Viktor Kryzhanivskyi, addressing the guests of the event, underlined that the Great Famine of 1932-1933 is a tragic page in the history of Ukraine and pointed out that the memory about the innocently perished and unborn Ukrainians will be always in our hearts.
Minister of culture of the Republic of Estonia R.Lang and the European parliament's deputy from Estonia T.Kelam also addressed the guests of the event.

Estonia was the first state to recognise the Great Famine in Ukraine as the genocide against the Ukrainian people.

After the ecumenical prayer the musical compositions of M.Skoryk and D.Shostakovych were performed by the string quartet "Phoenix" and singer S.Fedyna from Lviv.
