Bilateral relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Estonia in the cultural and humanitarian sphere is determined by positive dynamics of development, high level of trust, openness and mutual understanding.
Considering the broad representation of Ukrainian folk art in Estonia, the Embassy’s activity is making its emphasis on the representation of the Estonian public professional theater groups and masters of classical music of Ukraine and professional artists.
The great support of the cultural and humanitarian Embassy projects’ implementation is provided by the organizations of Ukrainian diaspora in Estonia.
The assistance in development of cooperation of the International Travel Agency “Ukraina- Rus" with the Estonian culturological organizations, business and tourism companies as well as Ukrainian community organizations in Estonia has been provided.
The perspective areas of cooperation through the Academies of the two countries are such fields as hydrodynamics, hydrophysics, sociology, biology, particularly marine hydrobiology (mariculture), ecology, science (in the context of research in phonemic synthesis).
The visits of delegations of Estonian and Ukrainian scientists take place within the inter-academic exchange.
The partnership between universities of two countries contributes to the development cooperation in research area. Today, they unite: 1) National Pedagogical M.P. Dragomanov University and Tallinn University; 2) Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Estonian School of Diplomacy; 3) National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and Tallinn University of Technology; 4) National Agricultural University of Ukraine and the Agricultural University of Tartu; 5) Estonian Business School and Kyiv National Economic University; 6) Kyiv Institute of International Management; 7) Odessa National Maritime University and the Estonian Maritime Academy; 8) Ternopil Technical University and Tallinn University of Technology.
The Embassy together with Taurida National V.I.Vernadsky University (Simferopol city) provided its assistance in cooperation development with Tartu University on a planned two-week summer school "Management of health and spa tourism in Estonia" in July 2011. It will engage students and teachers of the tourism departments at the Taurida National V.I.Vernadsky University as well as Crimean experts in tourism. The tourism field representatives from Moldova and Georgia universities are also planned to be invited.
The main areas of universities cooperation are the implementation of joint educational projects, exchanges of faculty staff, students and interns, joint participation in conferences and seminars and experience exchange.
There is an active work with Estonian universities namely with the Tallinn and Tartu universities aiming providing the Estonian language learning in Ukrainian schools, while Ukrainian language learning at Tallinn and Tartu universities.
The most active cooperation is between National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and Tallinn Technical University (Agreement on Cooperation between the NTUU “KPI” and TTU from January 2002) as well as Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Estonian School of Diplomacy (Memorandum on cooperation between DAU and ESD from September 2003).
The main forms of cooperation on faculty staff, researches and students NTUU “KPI” between TTU are such as the meetings, experience exchange, implementation of joint international projects, including the Swedish Institute of VISBY "Virtual Integrated University System, the " International Centre for improving the pre-university preparation", funded by UNESCO within the program "International Basic Science Programme"; the project "Bridging the gap between universities and businesses” within the TEMPUS (TACIS) program at the expense of the European Union.
The agreement on cooperation between Estonian company “Eestel Elektro AS" and National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" is also should be mentioned. Its aim is to share scientific and technical cooperation through direct contacts and network, including coordination of fundamental and exploratory research (as well as through the order from other countries), exchange of scientific publications, training and teaching materials, books and literatures, projects and so on. Invitation of representatives of the partner to participate in conferences of mutual interest, exchange of researches, faculty staff and experts for providing the lectures and consultations, experience exchange in the research and methodical activities as well as exchange of students, PhD students, trainees, experts for training and practical learning for students of NTUU “KPI” on a basis of Eestel Elektro AS and others.
Annually, the students of Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine (DAU) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine have two-week trainings at the Estonian School of Diplomacy (ESD) on the European and Euro-Atlantic integration affairs within the Memorandum on Cooperation between the DAU under the MFA of Ukraine and the ESD.
On Embassy of Ukraine initiative, the Estonian School of Diplomacy jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia has developed the long-term training program for Ukrainian experts on the EU affairs.
