On 26 January 2026, Ambassador of Ukraine to Estonia Volodymyr Boiechko held a meeting with Estonia’s Minister of Climate and Energy Andres Sutt.

Ambassador V.Boiechko briefed the Minister on the difficult situation in Ukraine’s energy sector, including disruptions to electricity, heating, and water supply caused by deliberate, large-scale Russian attacks on critical energy facilities and infrastructure as a whole. He also emphasized the risks posed by Russian missile and drone strikes to nuclear safety, in particular for facilities in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.

In this context, Ambassador V.Boiechko expressed gratitude to Estonia for its contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund totaling EUR 2,150,000, made at the end of 2025, as well as for the supply of energy equipment provided as humanitarian assistance.

Ambassador V.Boiechko handed over a list of Ukraine’s priority energy needs, primarily high-voltage transformers, mobile substations, backup generators, cogeneration units, and other equipment.

For his part, Estonia’s Minister of Climate and Energy assured full support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and promised to consider the Ukrainian side’s request.

The parties agreed to hold an online meeting in the near future at the level of energy ministers to coordinate cooperation in 2026.
