On 29 October, Ambassador of Ukraine to Estonia Volodymyr Boiechko paid a working visit to the island of Saaremaa, where he met with Rainer Antsaar, Mayor of Saaremaa Municipality.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the current security situation in Ukraine, particularly developments on the front line and the impact of Russia’s large-scale attacks on the civilian population.
Particular attention was given to opportunities for organising recreational and recuperation programmes on the island of Saaremaa for Ukrainian children affected by Russian aggression.
The discussions also addressed Ukraine’s needs for energy and medical equipment, as well as the possibility of providing such equipment to Ukraine ahead of the winter season.
The two sides also explored prospects for developing cooperation between Saaremaa Municipality and Ukrainian local communities, reaffirming their mutual interest in strengthening partnerships and implementing joint initiatives in support of Ukraine.
