On the occasion of the completion of his mission, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Estonia Maksym Kononenko had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kristen Michal.
While the meeting was primarily of a protocol nature, it unfolded in a warm and informal atmosphere, offering another valuable opportunity to exchange views on key issues of bilateral cooperation and the broader international agenda.
The discussion touched upon Ukraine’s European integration, the deepening of cooperation with NATO and the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), continued defence assistance to Ukraine, and the strengthening of sanctions pressure on Russia to bring its bloody and genocidal war to an end as soon as possible.
Particular attention was given to the issue of using frozen Russian assets for the reconstruction of Ukraine’s infrastructure. The Ambassador expressed gratitude for Estonia’s significant contribution to the rebuilding of the Zhytomyr region. Estonia is not only helping to restore kindergartens, hospitals, leisure centers, and bridges, but also sharing its expertise in the fields of education and humanitarian support. Thanks to its soft component, Estonia brings European standards to Ukrainian regions — standards that are later multiplied at the national level.
The Ambassador also expressed gratitude for Estonia’s decision to host the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2027) in 2027. This is a powerful gesture of support and a strong signal of faith in Ukraine’s future!
The Prime Minister praised Maksym Kononenko’s work in Tallinn, noting that over the past two years, Ukrainian-Estonian cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level.
In response to a protocol gift, Maksym Kononenko presented the Prime Minister with a unique postage stamp featuring Prince Volodymyr the Great and wished dear Estonia peace, security, and prosperity.
