On June 26, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Estonia celebrated Crimean Tatar Flag Day.

This holiday, initiated by the self-governing bodies of the Crimean Tatar people in 2010, symbolizes the unity, generational continuity of the Crimean Tatars, and their struggle for freedom and the right to self-determination. Today, this flag represents the fight for the rights of the indigenous people of Crimea, the liberation of the peninsula from Russian occupation, and one of the symbols of the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity.

The Crimean Tatar flag was adopted in December 1917 by the first Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people in Bakhchisarai. Due to Soviet repressions, the Crimean Tatar people did not use this flag. It was restored on June 30, 1991, in Simferopol by the second Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people.

The Tarak Tamga (Crimean: taraq tamğa, Ukrainian: герб-гребінь) is the clan sign of the ruling dynasty of the Crimean Khanate, the Giray (Gerey) dynasty, and the national emblem of the Crimean Tatar people in the 20th and 21st centuries. During the Crimean Khanate era, this sign was depicted on seals and coins. The first Khan of the dynasty, Hacı Giray, also used the Tarak Tamga.

Mavi Kök Bayraq (Ukrainian: блакитний прапор) is the national flag of the Crimean Tatar people. Mavi Kök, which means blue in Turkic languages, symbolizes purity and freedom. It is associated with the sky and the sea and is one of the symbols of the ancient Turkic belief, Tengriism.

We will undoubtedly overcome the Russian aggressor and restore the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, including the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
