On March 15, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Estonia, Maksym Kononenko, participated in a discussion on foreign policy with students, postgraduate researchers, and faculty members of the University of Tartu Ukraine Centre (UTUC).
Recent international events have provided ample intellectual material for analysis, while the open university environment fostered objectivity and meaningful discussion.
What was discussed?
How has the war transformed Ukrainian diplomacy and changed its instruments?
What are the new focal points of Ukraine’s foreign policy in the context of Washington’s peace initiatives?
Is a swift end to the war possible, and under what conditions?
What role does the agreement with the U.S. on the use of Ukraine’s critical minerals play in this process?
What does a 'comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace' mean for Ukraine?
What kind of security guarantees should be in place for our country?
What will the future security and defense alliance in Europe look like?
Time flew by, and we were unable to cover all the questions. However, this only means one thing – we should definitely continue this engaging dialogue.
Many thanks to the University of Tartu Ukraine Centre (UTUC) and Dmytro Khutkyy for the warm welcome and deep discussion!
