On 22 August 2025, representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Estonia met in Tallinn with children from Ukrainian large foster families who stayed in Estonia. Extending a warm welcome to them on Estonian soil, the diplomats conveyed sincere wishes for peace and safety, support, and new experiences during their time in friendly Estonia.
During the conversation, the participants were briefed on joint Ukrainian–Estonian projects in the fields of reconstruction and child protection. Particular attention was paid to the initiative to build family homes in Zhytomyr Region for internally displaced foster families, implemented by the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) in partnership with the Olena Zelenska Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia. It was emphasised that one of these homes is envisaged for this family.
On behalf of the Embassy, gratitude was expressed to Estonian partners for their unwavering solidarity with and assistance to Ukraine. The words of the First Lady of Estonia, Ms Sirje Karis—that Estonia remains a good friend of Ukraine even in the most difficult times—were noted, as vividly demonstrated by the current support for Ukrainian children and their parents.
As a token of hospitality, Estonian treats were presented to the children. The Embassy of Ukraine will continue to facilitate the implementation of joint humanitarian and reconstruction projects that strengthen the friendship between our states and create safe and comfortable conditions for Ukrainian children to live and develop.
