The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with the President of Estonia, Alar Karis, in Kyiv.
Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Alar Karis, the Estonian government, parliament, and the entire Estonian people for their consistent and timely assistance to Ukraine in its fight against the russian aggressor. He highlighted the significance of Estonia's 19th military aid package to Ukraine and the country's decision to provide annual defense support amounting to 0.25% of its GDP over the next four years.
During the meeting, they discussed the security situation in Ukraine, the consequences of continuous Russian attacks, and the strengthening of sanctions pressure on Russia. Estonia takes a proactive stance on the sanctions front and has supported the EU's 14th sanctions package.
R. Stefanchuk emphasized the importance of Estonia's efforts in developing a national compensation mechanism, stressing that putin and russia must be held accountable for the aggression they initiated.
They also discussed topics related to Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Significant attention was devoted to the reconstruction of Ukraine, with Estonia being one of the first countries to begin the restoration of Zhytomyr region. We count on Estonia’s continued active participation in the restoration of infrastructure projects in our country.
