Best wishes on the occasion of the Day of Restoration of Independence!

Ukraine sees Estonia as a true friend, tested by time and by the hardships both countries have endured.

The history of Estonia's struggle for independence is close to Ukraine. Like Ukraine, Estonia felt the burden of communist authoritarianism.

Today it is worth remembering all the generations of courageous Estonians who fought for the independence of the Estonian nation, just as the best sons of Ukraine have fought for our independence.

Many of them gave their lives fighting for the right to live in a free and independent country!

It was the historical identity of our struggle for freedom and independence that ensured the commitment of the Estonian people, with which they began to support Ukrainians from the first days of the russian aggression against Ukraine.

Russia's bloody and barbaric war against Ukraine has stirred up the entire democratic world. Since the first days of russian aggression, Estonia has been providing comprehensive diplomatic, economic, military-technical and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. Now Estonia is the first country who start implementing a project to restore the Zhytomyr region, which suffered from the war.

We are extremely grateful for the kindness and sincerity with which the Estonian people have hospitably received tens of thousands of refugees from Ukraine. We appreciate friendly support of every Estonian for our state in this difficult time.

Therefore we unite in the fight against the russian aggressor, because today Ukraine defends the entire democratic world.
