On September 16, 2024, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Estonia, Maksym Kononenko, together with the Ambassador of Latvia to Estonia, K. Našeniece, conducted a joint démarche at the Riigikogu of Estonia and handed Speaker of the Riigikogu, Lauri Hussar, an invitation to participate in the Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform, which will take place on October 24, 2024, in Riga.

During the meeting, Ambassador Maksym Kononenko emphasized the importance of the Riigikogu leadership's participation in the Parliamentary Summit as a significant component of the International Crimea Platform coalition in support of Ukraine and the future de-occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. In turn, Speaker Lauri Hussar confirmed his interest in participating in the upcoming Parliamentary Summit.

Ambassador Maksym Kononenko expressed his gratitude to the Riigikogu for its consistent and active support of Ukraine, as well as the leadership role of Estonian parliamentarians in adopting important decisions in support of Ukraine in its fight against Russian military aggression, serving as an example for other countries' parliaments.
