On 10 September 2025, Ambassador of Ukraine to Estonia Mr Volodymyr Boiechko held a meeting with Director General of the Department for External Economic Policy and International Economic Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Mr Kenneth Kopamees.
The Ambassador Mr Volodymyr Boiechko informed the Estonian side about the latest massive Russian attacks against Ukraine, which resulted in civilian casualties and damage to critical infrastructure. Special attention was drawn to the violation of the state border between Ukraine and Poland by Russian drones. These actions reflect Putin’s sense of impunity, as he has not been duly punished for his previous crimes. In this context, the need to maintain the unity of the international community and to step up pressure on the aggressor state was emphasized.
Mr Volodymyr Boiechko expressed sincere gratitude to Estonia for its comprehensive support of Ukraine across all international platforms, in particular within the UN, NATO, and the EU. The significant contribution of Estonia to the provision of defence assistance, its substantial role in promoting and enforcing sanctions against the aggressor state, as well as its active involvement in the issues of reconstruction and recovery of Ukraine were highlighted. The Ambassador underlined that the continuation of such support is of key importance for strengthening the defence capabilities of our state and for rebuilding its economy.
For its part, the Estonian side reaffirmed its unwavering and principled support for Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression. Director General Mr Kenneth Kopamees stressed Estonia’s determination to continue providing political, security, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, and underlined the importance of further strengthening Ukrainian-Estonian economic cooperation.
Support for Ukraine’s European integration and Euro-Atlantic aspirations was also expressed. The Estonian side welcomed the progress achieved by our state in implementing reforms aimed at approximating to the standards of the European Union and confirmed its readiness to continue facilitating Ukraine’s advancement on this path.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on cooperation between Ukraine and Estonia within the framework of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, of which Ukraine seeks to become a full-fledged member.
