On 12 September 2025, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Estonia, Volodymyr Boiechko, presented his Letters of Credence to the President of Estonia, H.E. Mr Alar Karis.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Boiechko expressed gratitude for the participation of the President’s spouse, Mrs Sirje Karis, in the Fifth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, held in Kyiv on 10–11 September, and extended congratulations on her being awarded a Ukrainian state decoration – the Order of Princess Olga, First Class.

During the conversation, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of Ukrainian–Estonian cooperation. President Karis emphasized that serving as Ambassador of Ukraine at a time of war and major security challenges is an especially responsible mission and reaffirmed the unwavering solidarity of his country with the Ukrainian people. He assured that Estonia will continue to stand as a reliable partner of Ukraine, doing everything possible to help restore a just and lasting peace in Europe.

Ambassador Boiechko expressed gratitude to the President of Estonia for his country’s unprecedented support for Ukraine, in particular the long-term decision to provide defence assistance amounting to 0.25% of Estonia’s GDP.

Special attention was drawn to Estonia’s significant contribution to Ukraine’s recovery, including projects in Zhytomyr region, as well as the decision to host the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Estonia in 2027.

The parties also addressed the situation of Ukrainian citizens who were forced to flee to Estonia due to the war. In particular, the discussion covered the education of Ukrainian children studying in Estonia, underscoring the need to ensure opportunities for learning in Ukrainian alongside integration and the study of the Estonian language.

Ambassador Boiechko further informed the President of Estonia about the main priorities of his mission in the country.

To conclude the meeting, in the framework of Estonia’s “Year of the Book,” the Ambassador of Ukraine presented to the President of Estonia an ethnographic album “Ukraine and Ukrainians” by the renowned Ukrainian artist, researcher, and collector Ivan Honchar, which highlights the historical and cultural heritage and unique identity of the Ukrainian people.
