Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Estonia Volodymyr Boiechko held a meeting with representatives of the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV): Margus Gering, Regional Head of Europe; Ivan Kostenko, Project Coordinator; and Katrin Winter, Regional Head of Africa.
The Estonian side informed about ESTDEV’s ongoing and completed projects in Ukraine, and outlined further prospects for cooperation in the field of recovery.
In particular, the parties discussed preparations for the thematic event “ESTDEV Ukraine Reconstruction Conference”, planned as a pre-event within the Lennart Meri Conference on 15 May 2026. Special attention was paid to opportunities to present Ukraine’s concrete needs and priorities in the field of reconstruction.
During the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on possible ESTDEV support for training programmes, seminars, study visits and professional development courses for Ukrainian institutions involved in recovery processes, in particular the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine and the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Boiechko requested that ESTDEV consider the possibility of supporting the Chernihiv Centre for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children, which was damaged as a result of Russian shelling, as well as ESTDEV’s potential involvement in supporting Ukraine’s school meals reform, in particular through a pilot project in Zhytomyr region.
The parties also exchanged views on preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2027 and further cooperation within the framework of the Lennart Meri Conference.
The Ambassador thanked ESTDEV for its consistent support for Ukraine and expressed hope for the further implementation of practical projects aimed at recovery, human capital development and strengthening the resilience of Ukrainian communities.
