Honorary Consulate of Ukraine opens in Narva
15 October 2026 16:48

On 14 October 2026, a ceremony was held in Narva to mark the official opening of the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine, headed by Honorary Consul Allan Kaldoja.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Estonia, Volodymyr Boiechko; the Mayor of Narva, Jaan Toots; the Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Martin Roger; representatives of local authorities and the Ukrainian community; volunteers; and Estonian supporters of Ukraine.

Speaking at the ceremony, Volodymyr Boiechko emphasised that the opening of the consulate expands Ukraine’s presence in eastern Estonia, creates new opportunities to support Ukrainians in the region and advances bilateral cooperation at the local level.

“Today, we continue this work here in Narva, bringing Ukraine closer to our citizens and friends across Estonia,” the Ambassador said, recalling the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Tartu a few weeks earlier.

In his remarks, the Ambassador also referred to Russia’s ballistic missile strike on Kyiv earlier that morning, which targeted, among other sites, the city’s energy infrastructure. He stressed the close link between Ukraine’s freedom and Estonia’s security, as well as the importance of continued solidarity in countering Russian aggression.

Volodymyr Boiechko recognised the Honorary Consul’s personal contribution to supporting Ukraine. Even before his appointment, Allan Kaldoja had assisted Ukrainians arriving in Narva, provided premises for volunteers making camouflage nets for Ukraine’s defenders, and personally delivered equipment to Ukrainian troops. He had also supported Ukrainian artists and helped launch a Ukrainian-language audio guide at the Vabamu Museum.

The Ambassador thanked the Estonian Government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their unwavering support for Ukraine, and the local authorities for facilitating the opening of the consulate. He wished the Honorary Consul every success in carrying out his mission and assured him of the Embassy’s readiness to work closely with him.

The Honorary Consulate will focus on supporting Ukrainians in the region, developing cultural, educational and economic cooperation, and strengthening ties between communities in Ukraine and Estonia.
