The Tallinn Music Week, held in April 2025, became a remarkable affirmation of Ukraine’s cultural presence and strength on the international stage.
Tallinn Music Week (TMW) is one of the most influential music and cultural forums in the Baltic region. Since 2009, it has been held every spring in the Estonian capital, bringing together new music, urban culture, and representatives of the creative industries from around the world.
In 2025, the festival featured 217 artists from 36 countries and attracted an audience of approximately 20,000 visitors.
Ukraine was one of the focus countries at this year’s festival, alongside Canada, Sweden, Finland, Poland, and the Baltic states. The Ukrainian presence at Tallinn Music Week became a powerful symbol of resilience, dignity, and the cultural identity of a nation fighting for its future. Performances by Ukrainian artists - including Hraybery and Maryana Klochko - impressed audiences with their depth, relevance, and artistic freedom.
At the official opening of the festival, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Estonia, Maksym Kononenko, emphasized: ‘’ Ukrainian musicians are not just surviving - they are creating. And in doing so, they are defending something far greater than themselves: A culture. A voice. A future.
Their participation in Tallinn Music Week - made possible by the heartfelt support of our Estonian friends - is more than a performance. It is an act of solidarity. A moment for Estonia, for Europe and for the whole world - to witness the resilience, the depth, and the beauty of a culture that refuses to be silenced.
Because Ukraine is not just defending its territory - It is defending its voice. And thanks to Ukrainian artists - and to friends like you - that voice continues to resonate. Clear. Strong. Unbroken.’’
In his remarks, the Ambassador also expressed sincere gratitude to Iryna Lobanok, Music Programme Manager at the Ukrainian Institute, for her outstanding dedication and professional coordination of the participation of Ukrainian artists.
He also thanked the Ministry of Culture of Estonia and, in particular, Helen Sildna, Head of Tallinn Music Week, who have been the visionaries and driving force behind this exceptionally meaningful cultural collaboration.
