President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Tallinn for a series of high-level meetings ahead of the EU, NATO and G7 summits. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha joined the visit as part of the Ukrainian delegation.
Following the Ukraine-E3 format with the UK, Germany and France, the Ukraine-NB8 Summit brought together the Nordic and Baltic partners to strengthen support for Ukraine, European security and efforts towards a lasting peace.
The summit focused on three priorities: stepping up diplomatic efforts, strengthening Ukraine’s air defence and European security, and advancing Ukraine’s path towards EU membership.
On the margins of the summit, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held bilateral meetings with the leaders of Finland, Norway, Latvia and Estonia. The discussions focused on military assistance, sanctions against Russia, European defence cooperation, and Ukraine’s EU accession. One of the key outcomes of the visit was the signing of the Drone Deal with Latvia.
«Ukraine’s partners note that Ukraine has succeeded in stabilising the situation on the frontline and strengthening its positions. This is an important factor both on the battlefield and in diplomacy. Russia is trying to compensate for its setbacks by intensifying terror against civilians and critical infrastructure. That is why strengthening Ukraine’s air defence, increasing missile supplies and developing Europe’s anti-ballistic capabilities remain among the key priorities,» Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has stressed.
Alongside the security and political agenda, First Lady Olena Zelenska held a number of meetings and events dedicated to supporting Ukrainian families, promoting Ukrainian studies abroad and advancing cultural initiatives.
Andrii Sybiha also held talks with his Estonian counterpart, Margus Tsahkna, and took part in a public discussion on the security situation in Europe and the prospects for achieving a lasting peace.
