Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha took part in the ceremony of signing agreements authorizing Ukraine’s Honorary Consuls in the cities of Tartu and Narva to perform consular functions.
The event was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, Margus Tsahkna, Ambassador of Ukraine to Estonia Volodymyr Boiechko, representatives of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the diplomatic corps, business community representatives, and participants of a seminar dedicated to the European Union’s free trade agreements with MERCOSUR and Mexico.
During the ceremony, agreements were signed authorizing the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Tartu and Southern Estonia, Mr. Siim Nellis, and the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Narva, Mr. Allan Kaldoja, to perform consular functions.
The Minister congratulated the newly appointed Honorary Consuls and thanked them for their willingness to contribute to the development of Ukrainian-Estonian relations, support Ukraine, and strengthen cooperation between our two countries at the regional level.
“Today’s ceremony carries special significance. It is about strengthening the human ties that bring Ukraine and Estonia closer together every day and make our partnership stronger. Honorary consuls serve as important bridges between people, communities, educational institutions, and businesses. Their work helps transform the friendship between our countries into concrete projects, partnerships, and new opportunities for cooperation,” said Andrii Sybiha.
The Minister also highlighted Estonia’s consistent support for Ukraine and expressed confidence that the work of the Honorary Consuls would contribute to further strengthening bilateral ties, supporting the Ukrainian community in Estonia, and advancing new joint initiatives.
Andrii Sybiha wished Mr. Siim Nellis and Mr. Allan Kaldoja every success in their new roles and expressed his readiness to work closely with them to further develop the Ukrainian-Estonian partnership.
