On 19 January 2026, Ambassador of Ukraine to Estonia Volodymyr Boiechko met with Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Estonia Igor Taro.
During their meeting, Ambassador Boiechko highlighted the critical situation in Ukraine's energy sector, which has been severely affected by the deliberate destruction of infrastructure by the aggressor state. He expressed gratitude to Estonia for its clear and consistent support for Ukraine in countering Russia's ongoing armed aggression. In particular, he thanked the Estonian government for its decision to ban 261 individuals associated with the war against Ukraine from entering the country.
The Ambassador also acknowledged Estonia's efforts in organising and conducting training courses for Ukrainian police officers. In response, Minister Taro assured that Estonia would continue to provide comprehensive assistance to Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
The discussion also covered important issues related to bilateral cooperation in the fields of internal affairs and security. They focused on the temporary stay of Ukrainian citizens in Estonia, who were forced to flee their homeland due to the full-scale war initiated by the Russian Federation. Additionally, they exchanged views on practical steps to enhance cooperation between the border services of both countries.
