On 14 January, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Estonia, Volodymyr Boiechko, held a meeting with Minister of Education and Research of the Republic of Estonia, Kristina Kallas.

During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Estonian side for its consistent and principled support for Ukraine in the context of Russia’s full-scale invasion and informed his counterpart about the impact of the ongoing war on the education system in Ukraine. 

In this context, particular attention was paid to the possibility of introducing “Lessons of Peace” in Estonian schools - a project initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, within the framework of the Fifth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen. 

The Ambassador also kindly requested the support of the Ministry of Education and Research of Estonia in disseminating information among the Ukrainian community regarding opportunities for Ukrainian children to study the Ukrainian language and culture in Estonian schools, as well as opportunities for Ukrainian educators working in the Estonian education system to study the Estonian language.

During the meeting, the sides discussed further cooperation in the field of education, in particular the participation of Ukrainian representatives in the International Summit on the Teaching Profession, to be held in Tallinn on 8-11 March 2026. 

Ukraine highly appreciates Estonia’s support in the field of education and its readiness to further deepen partnership and exchange experience, which contributes to Ukraine’s European integration and the development of human capital in both countries.
